
NexLaw is honoured for our partner, Prof. Saudin Mwakaje, to be a Guest of Honour at the Launching Ceremony of the 18th Cohort of Master of Intellectual Property (MIP) Program at the Africa University in Mutare, Zimbabwe18th August 2025. In the Keynote address, Prof. Mwakaje presented on a theme entitled: “African Regional Integration and Intellectual Property Law: Opportunities in Recent Developments.” He highlighted that intellectual property is a key driver for African development. Consequently, he insisted that the teaching and research on IP must be aligned to the context and competitive advantages of Africa. The colourful Launching Ceremony was graced by the presence of a number of outstanding IP figures in Africa, including Prof. Peter Mageto, Vice Chancellor of the Africa University, Mr. Tesuya Muralami, representing the Embassy of Japan, Mr. Victor Owade, Counsellor, representing the WIPO Academy, and Mr. Bemanya Twebaze, the Director General of ARIPO.
